Story Title: My Sister and my Best Friend
By: Joy Jahandar
Carol called me almost every weekend the past 4 years from 2008 to 2012. We always talked about how she was doing, politics and what was going on in the world. The last two months of her life she wasn’t able to talk much so she texted me often. I will never forget her words of wisdom and her loyalty not only as a sister but as my best friend. Even though her body is deceased, her spirit is very much alive and I feel that comfort in my heart every day. I love you my sweet sister and friend. My heart is broken because I cannot see you or talk to you like before, but I know we will meet again. I love you!

Sis I miss you so much already! Our conversations on the phone our texts and just being able to hear your voice. You always had such a pleasant voice and I loved talking to you. I am so glad I was able to visit you in California and spend those special moments with you that I will always cherish. Thank you for being such a wonderful sister! I love you dearly and look forward to seeing you in Heaven one day!

GÇ£Life is mostly froth and bubble,
    Two things stand like stone,
    Kindness in anotherGÇÖs trouble,
    Courage in your own.GÇ¥

    Dear Carol,
I heard this quote yesterday and it reminded me of you. You certainly had both of these qualities. You were kind to all your friends and coworkers and you always found time for them. You were also very courageous. You came across so many challenges and set-backs in your short life, but you faced them head-on without any complaints. None of these set-backs could really set you back since you always had faith in God and you were always looking forward. You smiled through the pain that you suffered and endured. Throughout your illness you kept a positive attitude and gave hope to others. It seems so unfair to me that such a smart, talented, hard working, beautiful young womanGÇÖs life has ended who still had so much living to do. Maybe it is really true that the God does take the good ones early. Or maybe God saw you getting tired, so He called you to take care of you. But due to my own selfish reasons I did not want you to leave me. You have been my best friend since the day we met in 2005. Although I held your hand tightly, I could not make you stay. Through my tears I saw you stop breathing. In your last moments you looked so serene. Perhaps we will meet again in our next life and fulfill all our dreams together. In the meantime I will cherish your beautiful smile, merry laughter, and fond memories in my heart.
    With Love,
    Bhavna

I am so sad to hear that my friend has passed. I worked with Carol in Pleasanton, and she was alaways the sweetest person, our conversations were always spiritual and insightful. I will miss her, and my thoughts and prayers are with the family, yes, she in an angel now, watching over all of us that loved and cared for her. Take care and God Bless.

To Carol’s Family – My sympathies at this difficult time. I Worked with Carol at the City of Palo Alto and truly miss her. Carol and I would arrive to work at the same time so she was my elevator buddy and the first “city” person I saw on most days. It was always such a pleasure to work with her, I loved her wry sense of humor and willingness to always help.

My heart is so sad over the passing of Carol. I have very fond memories of sitting in church, listening to Carol play the piano. She was an angelic piano maestro. Her personalized arrangements of the old-time gospel classics uplifted one’s soul and spirit to a level of thanksgiving and praise in the worship of God.

Carol, when it’s my turn to pass and join you in heaven, you will have to play me a special arrangement of “Beulah Land”.

my thoughts and prayers are for the whole Kittrell family. My God give you comfort, strength, and praise through this very difficult time.

    love,

    Tom, Kolab and James Walden

Carol was one of only 2 women that l felt comfortable to share whatever was going on in my life without worrying about being judged, or finding it spred. We talked about everything, our faith, the men in our lives, our professional lives, etc. Whenever we talked we would be on the phone for an hour sometimes, until she was no longer able to talk much. I was SO EXCITED when she told me she was planning to move back east and was hoping to spend sometime at my house while settling in. I had so many plans of things we would do together in Atlanta. I miss my friend so much. She held the phone and listened to my waling after the death of my brother last January. l cannot believe l now have to cry myself to sleep over her death.
